IND vs AUS: Shubman Gill’s Remarkable Performance in 2023 Continues with Crossing 1100 Runs in One-Day Internationals
Shubman Gill kept on his excellent work in 2023, and on Friday against Australia, he played a 74-run innings, surpassing the mark of 1100 runs in one-day internationals. Gill would finish the day with a total of 1121 runs in 19 games after his Mohali innings.
Shubman Gill had a remarkable year in 2023. He has continuously played well in ODIs and reached the milestone of 1000 runs in a year at the Asia Cup 2023. With 1894 runs scored in 1998, Sachin Tendulkar tops the list of highest Indian run scorers in a calendar year, where he now ranks as the 13th highest.
In the Asia Cup 2023, Gill’s performance was especially outstanding. He contributed significantly to India’s victory by scoring his sixth ODI century throughout the competition. His ability to hit was evident as he won the tournament’s batting rankings with 302 runs overall, including a century.
India trailed 277 runs behind in the first game before winning with to Mohammed Shami’s five-wicket haul and the rest of the team’s controlled bowling. Ruturaj Gaikwad was Gill’s new partner because Rohit Sharma was rested for the first two games.
Gill got India off to a great start by getting some boundaries against Australian captain Pat Cummins. Before reaching his fifty, he made five fours and two massive sixes.
